"William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice" hits theaters tomorrow starring none other than the feisty mad dog of cinema himself Al Pacino as Shylock, Here are five of the most "hoo-ha!" Pacino performances, rated from one to five "hoo-hahs!"
One "Hooh-hah!": "Any Given Sunday" - 1999
Oliver Stone's football flick featured as much crazy Pacino as it did giant locker room man-sausage. In "Sunday," Pacino screamed until the veins bulged out of his neck as head coach Tony D'Amato.
Two Hooh-hahs!": "Dick Tracy" - 1990
In this seminal film that helped to define a generation, Al Pacino played head mobster Big Boy Caprice, Dick Tracy's arch nemesis. The best scene is where Pacino calls Dick Tracy a "dumb dick" after he unsuccessfully tries to bribe Tracy with 15,000 "clams."
Three "Hooh-hahs!": "Scent of a Woman" - 1992
Not even blindness could stop Pacino from wigging out in "Scent of a Woman." Every time Pacino smelled a woman, he would yell "hooh-hah!" That's a lotta "hooh-hahs."
Four "Hooh-hahs!": "The Devil's Advocate" - 1997
The only thing that made less sense than Keanu Reeve's atrocious Southern accent was Pacino's raving and ranting. As Satan, Pacino didn't even let the crazy brother-sister sex and demon babies upstage his performance.
Five "Hooh-hahs!": "Gigli" - 2003
The mother of all Al Pacino "hoo-hahs" comes in "Gigli," the best film ever made. Pacino shows up white-haired and wild-eyed 20 minutes before the end of the film and lectures Ben Affleck and J. Lo by ranting about thumbs and fingers (all this to remind us of how critical their mobster mission of kidnapping a retarded kid is). "HOO-HAH!"
