Wedding dates to remember

2/03/05

As the romantic comedy "The Wedding Date," starring Debra Messing, hits theaters tomorrow, here are the sweetest wedding-themed movies around.

"Leprechaun 2" - 1994

On his 2,000th birthday, the Leprechaun has to find the descendent of the bride he chose on his 1,000th birthday and marry her. The treasure-hoarding Leprechaun is played masterfully by Warwick Davis, the dude that played Willow and the Ewok Wicket in "The Return of the Jedi."

"The Bachelor" - 1999

The plot of this film, which is very similar to a "Three Stooges" episode, forces Chris O'Donnell, in a stipulation of his grandfather's will, to find a bride by his 30th birthday (which happens to be 6:05 p.m. the day after the movie takes place) in order to inherit $100 million. Too bad he picks ReneƩ "Face Implosion" Zellwegger. I bet that's some serious cold mountin' if you know what I'm sayin'.

"My Best Friend's Wedding" - 1997

Julia Roberts should have said: "I never knew that I had always loved someone until they finally got over me and met someone new and were ready to start a new life with them. Now, I just have to comically try to ruin his life and halt his wedding to satisfy my own selfishness. Isn't it cute and funny?" Or not.

"Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding" - 2003

This is the fabulous television movie of the popular show that promotes aquatic life-saving techniques. David Hasselhoff has been suffering from amnesia and goes back to Hawaii to get married to Allison, who is secretly in cahoots with the ultra-evil Mason Sato. Hasselhoff's ex-wife, Neely, then has to break up the wedding and reunite with her ex-husband. The oh-so-complicated life on the beach must be hard.
